Centenary United Methodist Church - Congregational Care  Centenary United Methodist Church serves the Winston-Salem, NC community.  Offers counseling, group therapy, grief and loss support groups, etc.

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) – Non-profit, self-help support organization open to all bereaved parents, grandparents, and siblings.  Local chapters include: Mt. Airy – 2nd Mondays at 7:00 p.m. Call 276-755-9163.  Statesville – 1st Thursdays at 221 E. Broad St, Statesville.  Greensboro – Call 336-883-1892.

 

GRIEF SHARE is the program used by several churches in the Winston-Salem area for grief & loss.  Support groups, daily emails, and other resources are offered to provide encouragement and reminders during the recovery process.  For local contact information, find the nearest location on-line at www.griefshare.org

 

Healing Hearts support group – 3rd Wednesdays, 5:30-7:00 p.m., at Greater Cleveland Avenue Christian Church.  Founding principle: 2 Corinthians 1:3-4.  Also Redeeming Life Ministry: Providing support and encouragement, CareNotes and other resource materials addressing the different forms of grief/loss. 336-661-0226. Hospice & Palliative Care Center Winston-Salem-Forsyth County: 101 Hospice Lane, Winston-Salem, 27103, Phone: 336-768-3972.  Grief & loss programs, camps, etc.

 

Mother’s Group meets the 1st Tuesday of each month, 7:00-8:30 p.m. at Knollwood Baptist Church. “United through our losses … strengthened by our stories.”

 

Shepherds Center of Greater Winston-Salem The Shepherd's Center of Greater Winston-Salem is an interfaith ministry that provides services for older adults, e.g. Support Groups for grief, family caregiving, and other life transitions. 

 

Still in Our Hearts – monthly dinner meetings for anyone suffering the loss of a baby due to stillbirth or infant death.

ACCESS - Aircraft Casualty Emotional Support Service provides peer grief support and resource information to those who have survived or lost loved ones in air disasters.

AARP - American Association of Retired People Grief and Loss program includes online articles, publications, support groups, and discussion boards on coping with the loss of a family member.

 

AFSP - American Foundation for Suicide Prevention is dedicated to advancing knowledge of suicide and the ability to prevent it.

 

Alive Alone - Designed to benefit bereaved parents whose only child or all children have died by providing a self-help network and newsletter to promote communication and healing.

 

BabySteps - Named after the baby steps that form the long and difficult road to recovery from the loss of a child.

 

BPUSA - Bereaved Parents of the USA offers support, care, and compassion for bereaved parents, siblings, and grandparents.

 

Center for Loss in Multiple Births - By and for parents who have experienced the death of one or more children during a multiple pregnancy, at birth, and through childhood.

 

Compassion Connection - Contains articles and readings for all who have suffered a loss.

 

Comfort Zone Camp - No charge nonprofit camp for siblings and children (age 7-17) coping with the loss of a sibling or parent.

 

www.godstinyangels.org - Gods Tiny Angels Support Group is a non-profit Christian organization providing support to families that have experienced the loss of an infant child.

 

www.goodgriefresources.comGood Grief Resources connects the bereaved and their caregivers with as many bereavement support resources as possible in one efficient and easy-to-use website directory.

 

GRIEFNET.ORG - Griefnet offers e-mail support groups for the bereaved including parents, siblings, and grandparents; also offers a comprehensive resource guide of bereavement organizations and a sister website for bereaved children, KIDSAID.

 

GROWW - Grief Recovery Online offers wide variety of grief and bereavement resources.

 

HEALING HEARTS for Bereaved Parents is dedicated to providing grief support and services to parents who are suffering as the result of the death of their child or children. The volunteers at HEALING HEARTS are here to help. We have known the pain that the death of a child brings. MADD - Mothers Against Drunk Drivers has a mission to stop drunk driving, support victims of violent crime, and prevent underage drinking.

 

MISS - Mothers in Sympathy and Support provides emergency support to families after the death of their baby or young child.

Parents Of Murdered Children - provides support and assistance to all survivors of homicide victims while working to create a world free of murder. 

 

SHARE Pregnancy and Infant Loss Support - SHARE's mission is to serve those who are touched by the tragic death of a baby through miscarriage, stillbirth, or newborn death.

SIDS Network - Sudden Infant Death Syndrome Network offers latest information, as well as support, for those who have been touched by the tragedy of SIDS/OID (other infant death).

 

SOS  - Survivors of Suicide helps those who have lost a loved one to suicide to resolve their grief and pain in their own personal way.

 

STITCHITIZE – Everyone can request a memorial ribbon to be added to a Christmas tree.  Established from this couple’s loss of their baby at 37 weeks of pregnancy.  Visit www.stichitize.com and search on “Scott’s Tree.”

 

TAPS - Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors is made up of, and provides services to, all those who have lost a loved one while serving the country in the Armed Forces.

TLC - National Institute for Trauma and Loss in Children is dedicated to helping traumatized children and families restore a sense of safety and reduce the effects of trauma; information available about trauma, resources, and training for professionals.

Twinless Twins - serves in support of twins (and all multiple births) who suffer from the loss of companionship of their twin through death, estrangement or in-utero loss.
