Greetings!

I wanted to personally thank each of you for a beautiful day on Saturday!  Thank you for your support and your
encouraging words!

The site of the Miller Park amphitheater transformed by the hundreds of faces representing many families of
all different ethnic groups, people of all ages, the hundreds of red and white balloons, framed by the towering
trees, spirits in the same place, for the same reason - on one accord - was an awesome display of love in
action - our God blessed us with perfect weather and the light breeze carried our messages of love, releasing
some of the pains of the past, while basking in the warmth from the sun, feeling the peace and joy within ... it
was marvelous in His eyes (and mine)!

We had a total of
328 people registered and walked for 91 children!!!!

I hope everyone took with them the poem, "Walk to Remember," written especially for this occasion by Kelvin
Mayfield.  And I hope some of you are enjoying the CD "Music for Reflection & Healing," which Rickey Johnson
gave away free of charge (his ministry).  There were also Grief Support Resources (a brochure of local and
national resources), materials from Heartstrings Infant Loss Support  Group, and "Rising Above the Odds," a
book I published of Ronnetta's writings (my ministry).  These materials as well as the refreshments (thanks
to our many
sponsors) were all available for your pleasure, and I hope you got whatever you were interested
in getting.

It seemed like the "
Memorial Wall" was appreciated by many and I thought to see the names - in print - would
also be appreciated.
Because we loved them, we remember.
Because we remember, they will NEVER be forgotten!

I hope that your entire experience -- from the time you got out your cars, to registration and/or pickup of the
walk bibs, during the opening, throughout the 2-mile walk, as you reflected on your messages of love, during
the Memorial, as balloons were distributed and then the massive launch -- was a positive and an
encouraging experience.

My goal going into this was that it would be a very organized walk event and that most of all people would be
encouraged - I feel that we accomplished both! (Matthew 19:26-b) Thank you, thank you, thank you!

But if there was something that could have been handled better and/or differently, I would appreciate you
sharing that with me.  There is always room for improvement.

May God continue to bless each and everyone of you individually and us all collectively as we continue on this
journey called "life!"

PERSONAL TESTIMONY:

"... a personal thanks to you and all the individuals who worked so hard to organize the event, it was truly a
memorable and heartfelt day to see so many people experiencing and sharing the loss and memory of a
child, brother, sister, or friend.

The "Walk to Remember" allowed for many to just remember without sorrow as well as meet and greet with
others who understand what it's like to lose a loved one too soon. The memorial wall was probably the most
recognized aspect of the walk...it allowed for us and others to see the names of loved ones, which provided a
sense of their physical existence although they are no longer with us except in our hearts and memory..

Again, thank you all for providing a means to recognize and remember loved ones gone to soon."

Post-Walk News Release:

Walk Honors Memory of Children Who Died

Winston-Salem, NC – Remembering with love their children who had died, nearly 350 parents, family
members,  and friends joined hands and hearts in a two-mile “Walk to  Remember” on Saturday, July 21st.

The locally sponsored walk was held at Miller Park and coincided with chapters of The Compassionate
Friends around the country who also sponsored walks and joined with the two-mile walk on the final day of the
national organization’s 30th national conference in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

“Our hearts were joined with those hundreds of families across the country walking to remember all children
who left us too soon,” said Willette Mosby-Reynolds, walk organizer. “We will always cherish the memories of
our children, no matter how long or how short they were with us. The walk gave us a way to honor their lives in
a truly memorable way.”

The local walk featured a proclamation signed by Mayor Allen Joines, messages of love, a balloon launch,
Grief Support Resources (pamphlet of local and national resources), and a specially-penned poem “Walk to
Remember.” The focal point of the day’s event was the Memorial “Wall,” which featured the names of 91
children being memorialized.

“We are elated by the growing response to the concurrent walks and our national ‘Walk to Remember’,” said
Patricia Loder, executive director of the organization, which has nearly 600 chapters in the United States. “As
years go by, we expect more and more chapters to join in this heartfelt celebration of remembrance.”
